5 Person Bufet (2009-2015) is a multi-phased project by artist Deniz Gül in three parts: a screenplay, an installation of sculptural objects (cabinets) and its present incarnation, a performative sound score. Organized into three acts and recorded during its premiere in Chicago, the sound score presents a constellation of themes: desire, sexuality, political ambivalence, national pride and the search for cultural identity. Gül’s original language-poetry evolves into a purely phonetic and aural experience.

5 Person Bufet was produced by Deniz Gul in collaboration with musicians Katherine Young (bassoon), Audrey Chen (vocals, cello), Owen Davis (percussion), Carol Genetti (vocals) and Frank Rosaly (percussion). Original screenplay and artistic direction by Deniz Gul. Musical direction by Katharine Young. Sound engineer, Stephen Ptacek.
