Conceived as a sound installation in its original form, Marie Michelle Deschamps’ Don’t trip over the wire…! was inspired on one hand by the method developed by author Louis Wolfson to block the English language, using phonetic and etymological translation processes, and on the other by the use of graphical notation in music. The sound piece is followed by a conversation with the artist focusing on her correspondence with Louis Wolfson and her recent work investigating language as a space.

Don’t trip over the wire is a work produced by Marie Michelle Deschamps for the Collective Gallery's "Satellite Program" and exhibited as part of the Edinborough Festival in Scotland in 2014. This broadcast was produced by Asli Seven for Take You There Radio as part of a documentary series on the relationship between sound and language and artistic practices exploring this relationship.
